Hong Kong Hotung Secondary School Visits Jinan No.1 High School for Educational and Cultural Exchange

On May 13th, a delegation of 97 teachers and students from Hong Kong Hotung Secondary School visited Jinan No.1 High School for a cultural exchange program aimed at fostering patriotism and strengthening ties between the two institutions.

The day began with a warm welcome ceremony at 8:00 AM in front of the Zhixin Building on Jinan No.1 High School’s campus. Sixty volunteer students from Grade 10 sang the patriotic song Ode to the Motherland, expressing enthusiastic greetings to their Hong Kong counterparts. Following the ceremony, both schools’ delegations took a group photo to commemorate the occasion. The Hotung Secondary School guests explored key locations including Jixianlin Square, the school canteen, Yueke Bookstore, the playground, Chunhui Square, Deng Enming Square, the art gallery, and the school history museum.

After the tour, the delegation gathered in the Yuezhi Building auditorium to watch Jinan No.1 High School’s 120th-anniversary promotional video, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the school’s history, achievements, and picturesque campus environment. The visitors expressed admiration for the school’s century-old educational legacy and outstanding accomplishments.

The highlight of the event was a hands-on traditional Chinese culture class on paper-cutting, an intangible cultural heritage art. Shao Juan, the art teacher and a paper-cutting master, demonstrated the craft while guiding students from both schools through the process—from holding scissors and folding paper to creating simple yet elegant designs.

This event not only served as a meaningful educational dialogue but also stood as a testament to cultural exchanges between Shandong and Hong Kong, setting a benchmark for promoting resource sharing and regional collaboration in education.
