There are currently 35 schools in Gangcheng District, including 1 high school, 6 junior high schools, 23 primary schools, and 5 nine-year consistent schools; As of January 2024, there were 2149 in-service teaching staff and 28531 primary and secondary school students, including 2448 high school students, 9206 middle school students, and 16877 elementary school students. There are a total of 52 kindergartens in the entire district, with 960 teachers (including 215 registered preschool teachers) and 6818 children in the kindergarten. There is also a private vocational school with public assistance. It has been successively recognized as an advanced collective in the national education system, a basic balanced zone for the development of compulsory education in China, an excellent organization award for art exhibitions and performances for primary and secondary school students in China, an advanced collective of the National Five Good Grassroots Work Committee, a provincial education work demonstration zone, and a provincial-level civilized unit. It is actively creating a high-quality and balanced development zone for compulsory education in China.

Since the establishment of the district, the Gangcheng District Committee and Government have always adhered to the priority development of education, with the aim of providing education that satisfies the people. They have continuously increased investment in education, deepened education reform, and comprehensively strengthened the construction of the education team. As a result, the education industry in Gangcheng has flourished. Since 2021, the new district committee and government have proposed the "1364" work concept.
