The Laiwu District governs 15 sub-districts (towns), 862 administrative villages (residential areas), one national-level high-tech industrial development zone, one national agricultural science and technology park (provincial-level agricultural high-tech zone), and 1 provincial-level tourist resort area. With a permanent population of 982,600, the Laiwu District covers a total area of 1,739 square kilometers. There are 67 ordinary primary and secondary schools in Laiwu (including 2 ordinary senior high schools, 14 junior high schools, 38 primary schools, 12 schools of nine-year consistent system, and 1 non-publicly funded school), with a total of 95,258 students and 5,816 faculty members; there is 1 secondary vocational school, with a total of 2,241 students and 231 teachers; there are 140 public kindergartens and 132 private ones, with 25,417 children and 3,453 staff members. In recent years, the Laiwu District has adhered to the people-centered development philosophy and the strategy of prioritizing education development. It has focused on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and has coordinated the integration of urban and rural education. By adhering to the "four-in-one" approach of ensuring funding, improving school-running conditions, enhancing educational management, and building a strong team, the district strives to create an education environment characterized by "elegant students, outstanding teachers, excellent quality, and superior schools." It has been successively honored as a National Advanced District in Basic Education and a National Demonstration Area for Quality Education. In October 2014, it successfully passed the re-evaluation and acceptance of the National-level County (City, District) for Basically Balanced Development in Compulsory Education. Since 2020, the Laiwu District has continuously invested approximately 1.3 billion Yuan to actively improve school-running conditions and vigorously promote the integrated development of urban and rural education. The high-quality and balanced development of compulsory education in the district has shown a good trend of sustained and healthy development. |
