I have enjoyed living and working in China for more than six years and JTIS is my third school in China. Before coming to China, I worked in a variety of school in England as both a teacher and Headteacher. 

Qualifications: National Professional Qualification in Headship (NPQH) from the National College for School Leadership in England; Post Garduate Certifictate in Teaching (PGCE) and Batchelor of the Arts in History and Theology.

ABOUT US

Jinan Thomas International School was founded in 2018 to serve both the children of foreign nationals living in Shandong province.

JTIS is currently the only recognized international school in the city of and has students from twenty nationalities attending grades 1-7. It is also a full-immersion school, meaning all the classes are taught in English (except Chinese). Non-native speakers also receive extra ESL support throughout the day to strengthen language acquisition.

The JTIS Instructional Faculty includes highly talented and experienced teachers from all over the world including the US, UK, Ireland, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia,Mexico, Serbia, South Africa and China. All the teachers have advanced degrees in their field and hold teacher certifications from their countries of origin. JTIS teachers use an inquiry-based and hands-on approach to engage students in learning that is challenging, fun, and meaningful.

CURRICULUM

JTIS uses the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) as its instructional model in primary school, adopting the content standards from US Common Core. JTIS is a candidate school for the Middle Years Program. The school is pursuing authorzation as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common, philosophy-a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education-that we believes is important for our students.

These curriculums empower learners to dive deep into learning throughout each thematic unit, and provide oppotunities for learners to develop personal attributes and international-mindedness both in and outside classrooms.

SCHOOL LIFE

JTIS has a vibrant After-School Activities program in which students can play sports such as basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, fencing and rock-climbing, etc.

We also have music and drama classes as well as Chinese craft making activities. As an international school, we encourage children to learn about, experience and appreciate cultural diversity by celebrating a variety of holidays and related activities such as the Chinese Mid-Autumn Day festival, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Earth Day, Chinese New Year, to name just a few!
